@Deadline published that Paramount Pictures will make a remake of the classic John Hughes 1987 holiday road trip comedy “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” starring Will Smith and Kevin Hart in their first silver screen team-up. Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Kevin’s Hartbeat Productions will produce the film.
The original film lead was Steven Martin and the late John Candy. In the original film, two men ( Martin and John Candy) are shown with totally different personalities. They are forced to become travel partners and roommates during a desperate plan to get home to loved ones for Thanksgiving after their flights are canceled. A very funny set of holiday travel disasters follows them in the film.
For the remake, Ayesha Carr will write the script. Ayesha Carr`s most recent project was the upcoming Hulu series “Woke”. She was an executive producer of “Woke”. which premieres in September 2020. Ayesha also wrote episodes of “The Carmichael Show,” “Mixology,” “Everybody Hates Chris” and “My Wife and kids.”
No release date, as well as other casting decisions, are announced by producers for this film yet.
