Brazilian football player Ronaldinho and his brother, who were arrested after entering Paraguay with fake passports, have been released from prison Prosecutors said that the judge has accepted the house arrest request for both of them. Ronaldinho and his brother Essis arrived in prison in Paraguay on 6 March.
The court had earlier rejected his brother’s bail plea filed thrice. But this time the court ordered him to be released on bail amounting to about 1.6 million US dollars. While granting bail, the court also ordered that both the brothers will remain in the Palmaroga Hotel till the investigation of the case continues.
Ronaldinho also held dual citizenship of following passports from Brazil and Spain. However, these documents had already been seized by Brazilian authorities last year relating to another separate legal issues. Ronaldinho has insisted to the court that the Paraguayan passport had been given to him as a gift from a local sponsor.
Ronaldinho (39) and his brother Essis (49) were arrested in Asuncion when they allegedly entered Paraguay with a forged passport.
Both brothers reached Paraguay on 4 March. He came here to participate in a children’s charity campaign. During this time Ronaldinho was also supposed to promote the book based on his career.
